CoupMe is a group buying website that provides users with one deal a day. The deal can be as much as 90% off the regular price of the item or activity. Users can view each day’s deal and if they like it, they can purchase it. As long as the minimum purchase requirement is met, the user’s credit card is charged and they will receive the deal via email in the form of a printable coupon. Users can see the day’s deal or check out past deals. Users are also invited to submit a local business that they feel should be featured on CoupMe. CoupMe is intended for users and businesses in the New England area, including Boston and surrounding areas, Worcester County, Hartford, Providence, Burlington, Portland and Nashua/Manchester communities.Show more screenshots »
CoupMe was created on August 3rd, 2009. It was intended to give Boston area shoppers a way to save money on excellent services and products. Only three months later, CoupMe had grown significantly. In January of 2010, the company hired a new senior management team and obtained outside financing to help support its tremendous growth.
The general concept behind CoupMe is not terribly unique. Many daily deal style websites are available. What makes CoupMe appealing is its service area. Daily deal websites tend to be limited by geographic area since they work with local businesses and shoppers. CoupMe serves many communities in the New England area, making it a unique option for those living there.
The CoupMe website has a very warm, rich design that features a dark olive green and maroon color scheme. The website is very well organized and still feels fun without all the flashy colors of other daily deal websites. Four green tabs at the top of the page allow the user to navigate. The homepage always features the most recent daily deal so users do not have to go far to find it.
A new member can join CoupMe by clicking the white “My Account” link in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. The user can then lick the green “Continue” button along the right hand column on the following page. The user is asked to provide their email address and a desired password. A check box at the bottom of the form is automatically selected to sign the user up for the CoupMe newsletter. A form along the right hand side of the page allows the user to sign up for CoupMe deal alerts using either their email address or Facebook login.
Just like other daily deal websites, CoupMe benefits by having more users making purchases. To help encourage user spending, CoupMe gives anyone an account for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for signing up. The amount the user spends on CoupMe depends entirely on how many deals they purchase. There are no minimum or maximum purchase requirements to maintain an account.
CoupMe is a site for bargain shoppers in the New England area. The website offers all the same services of other daily deal websites, giving users the chance to purchase services and goods at significant discounts.
